Step 1. Please ensure you wear gloves when handling sisal rope.

 

Step 2. Start at the bottom of the post, fix sisal rope into position with a heavy staple.

 

Step 3. Wind sisal rope around pole and every seven or eight revolutions tamp down using a block of wood and a hammer. This will ensure that is tightly coiled around the post.

 

Step 4. When you reach the end of the post hammer a staple into the rope to secure it.

 

Step 5. It is advisable to rub catnip onto your post so it gets your pet’s attention straight away.

 

Step 6. If your pet is one of the very few cats that do not respond to catnip you can rub his paws onto the post so that he gets the general idea.
